Andrew RobinsonAndrew Robinson is a filmmaker, writer, blogger and audio/video enthusiast. Having written product reviews and features for mainstream publications, Andrew took his talents and created his own site – ARC Cinema – in which he writes not only about products but also about the creative and technical aspects of filmmaking.

He has also produced a series of videos about the Home Cinema Experience. Andrew provides helpful product reviews and advice and his videos and website are terrific resources.

In episode 8, Andrew discusses the importance of room treatments and recommended placement. He says, “The most important component in ANY two-channel or home theater setup is the room with which it ‘lives,’ and yet 90% (or more) of AV enthusiasts ignore the importance of their room completely! Why!? Why would you do that!?” Why indeed.

Andrew discusses treating low frequencies and recommends placing bass traps, such as GIK Acoustics Tri-Trap Corner Bass Traps, in the corners. He also emphasizes the importance of treating the wall directly behind where you sit with absorption (such as the 242 Acoustic Panel) or with diffusion (such as the Q7d Diffusor).
