Designed to Be Seen
Most acoustic panels hide in plain sight. The DecoShapes Hexagon line does the opposite. These hexagonal shape panels are designed to become a focal point of your space, turning any untreated wall into an opportunity for acoustic and visual improvement. Their unique shape allows for creative arrangements—line them up in honeycomb patterns, alternate colors for a checkerboard effect, or create flowing organic patterns across a wall.
DecoShapes are especially popular in home studios, podcast rooms, and home theaters, where people want performance and visual appeal. Because they are smaller than our standard acoustic wall panels, these DecoShapes panels allow for pinpointed control over sound waves, early reflections, and reverberation without needing to cover large, continuous surfaces. For rooms where a sleek, modern look is just as important as noise control, DecoShapes offer the perfect blend.
Performance and Functionality
While DecoShapes make a strong visual statement, they are built to GIK Acoustics’ same high performance standards. The 2″ version is comparable to our Spot Panel, while the 4″ version is comparable to our B4 Bass Trap, on a per-square-foot basis.
Each panel is made with the same high density fiberglass absorption material, ensuring solid sound dampening across a wide frequency range. While smaller than traditional bass traps, the 4″ thick DecoShapes can contribute meaningfully to low frequency performance in noise reduction and acoustic treatment strategies in small rooms, while all DecoShapes panels help with reverb, flutter echo, and first-order reflections.
Like all GIK Acoustics products, the DecoShapes Hexagon Acoustic Panels are tested for performance (comprehensive acoustic performance test data, not just the Noise Reduction Coefficient/NRC provided with lesser acoustic tiles) and built in the USA using eco-friendly materials. They are Class A fire rated, ensuring they meet the needs of both residential and commercial spaces. They are always effective in acoustic treatment applications, and can help muffle some sounds for soundproofing scenarios.
Installation Options
Each DecoShapes panel comes standard with sawtooth hangers, similar to picture frames, making them easy to hang on most walls with minimal tools. They can be rotated and aligned in any direction, allowing for seamless connections with adjacent panels. For those seeking DIY flexibility, alternative mounting options—including custom cleats or other fasteners—may be possible depending on the wall surface and layout.
These panels do not have self-adhesive options available, but some customers have reported success using command hooks. However, due to the weight and high-quality build of these panels, mechanical fasteners are recommended for long-term reliability. Our GIK Acoustics Design Team is always happy to help with planning, layout, and installation advice tailored to your space.
Design Flexibility
With so many fabric color options available, you can mix and match panels to create custom patterns. Want a bold red and grey theme for a home recording studio? Or perhaps soft blues and neutrals for a calming home office? The modular nature of hexagon sound panels means you can update your space gradually over time, or fill an entire wall with one cohesive acoustic mural. DecoShapes can be combined with other products like bass traps and diffusers as well.
Thanks to their nonrectangular form, DecoShapes are one of the most flexible and creative acoustic treatment tools available. And unlike mass-market acoustic foam panels, DecoShapes are true broadband sound absorbing panels, capable of real noise reduction and sound insulation across a wide range of frequencies.
Real Solutions for Real Rooms
- Living Room: Add a few DecoShapes to the wall behind your TV or stereo system to reduce slap echo and reverb, especially in rooms with drywall and hard floors.
- Podcast Room: Mount a few panels around your mic setup to tighten up the sound quality of your voice recordings.
- Home Studio: Use the thicker 4″ versions for a combination of aesthetic detail and bass performance.
- Home Office: Cut down on echo and make Zoom calls clearer without making your space look like a recording booth.
Whatever your space, DecoShapes provide a beautiful entry point into high-performance acoustics, making them ideal for DIY projects, apartment dwellers, or professional designers alike.
