Our quadratic sound diffuser design – more accurately called a two-dimensional diffuser design – has the advantage of scattering sound across two planes: horizontal (left & right) and vertical (up & down). This two-dimensional scattering broadens the soundscape and makes a room sound larger.

Many sound diffusers available on the market today are simply random blocks in a series and are not calculated to give TRUE even acoustic diffusion. GIK Acoustics’ Gotham N23 5″ Quadratic Diffuser has a 23-root, calculated quadratic sequence which is machine cut within 120th of a inch. The design and painstaking attention to detail makes each diffuser perfect from the 1st to the 100th.

The striking look of the Gotham N23 5″ Quadratic Diffuser brings with it unparalleled performance: turning damaging reflections into a sonically pleasing diffused sound field, while controlling yet retaining higher frequencies, and making the room sound larger than it is.

Placement Ideas

The Gotham N23 5″ Quadratic Diffuser is an attractive choice for a room where high frequency chaos needs to be controlled but not removed. Our quadratic sound diffuser is best suited to spreading high frequencies out in a room.

In a control room

the Gotham Diffuser can be used on the front and back walls, and rear sidewalls to keep the reverberation better mixed.

In home theater and two-channel audio rooms

the diffusers can be utilized arranged as a wall on the rear or sidewalls, or behind dipole speakers, to round off sharp reflections.

Gotham quadratic diffusers can be wall mounted, free standing or stacked. The Gotham N23 Diffusers are Ideal on the front wall or rear wall of control rooms, or on the rear sidewalls

The U.S. Patent & Trademark Office issued utility patent US 9,091,060 for GIK’s unique, proprietary design of its acoustic absorbers. GIK Acoustics products are beyond simple do-it-yourself panels that are found on the market today. We start with only the highest-quality materials that will not sag or leak over time, then we build every panel by hand employing a unique two-frame system.

Unlike other companies who use inexpensive materials, GIK Acoustics panels are crafted with quality insulation material, fabrics and hardwood plywoods. We start with absorptive insulation material that is intended for room acoustics – not cheap mineral wool whose main purpose is to insulate a ship’s engine room.

We then use carefully selected hardwood plywoods – not cheap imports – to construct our frames. The difference and chief advantage is dimensional stability. Crossbanded layers and balanced construction mean that hardwood plywood won’t shrink, swell or warp as much as lumber. To finish our panels we offer an array of fine fabrics – from our standard 9 options to the full line of Guilford of Maine panel fabrics.

GIK Acoustics products are not only Greensafe, but they carry a Class A fire rating which means we continue to provide our clients with the safest most effective products available. The Class A fire rating means that GIK Acoustics treatments have received the highest rating possible under the ASTM E84, a test used by code officials and regulatory agencies in the acceptance of interior finish materials.
