Getting Started with One PIB
If you’re just starting out or working in a compact setup, one PIB is more than enough to make an easily noticeable improvement. You can start by positioning the booth in a V-shape behind your microphone, so that the performer is facing into the PIB. You can also try placing the PIB behind the performer or to the sides for a different sound. Different types of microphones like condenser, dynamic, or ribbon microphones will have different pickup patterns like cardioid, omnidirectional, or figure-8 that will be more or less sensitive in different directions. If you use a pop filter that can also affect things.
